We went to see The Cage vol. 10 Neoblood yesterday. Ultimate figthing, that is. Fun was had by all.

The fist 4 fights were over in half an hour due to for technical or normal knock-outs. Kinda cool but it became a little hilarious when we looked at a guy in the -65kg series riding the other fighter, strangling him until he gave up. It took a helluva long time and it eventually looked like a scene from a Jim Carrey-movie with the losing guy trying to grab the winning one but not quite reaching him.

But the best part, my favourite, was the screams. People screamed directions and whatever came to their mind at the fighters. The best one:

"Feed him fist!"

And then there were others designed to encourage the fighters and remind them what they were there to do, like:

"hit him in the face!". You know, in case they forgot.

"Get out from under there!". While they had been tackled and the other guy was on top of them punching, strangling or whatever. Just so that they wouldn't get the impression that they would win the fight by being on the ground and getting their face punched in.

"Hit him!".So that they'd remember that it was not cool to be semi/totally unconscious and have their ass handed to them.

And the best part was when the fighters greet each others at the beginning of the fight, by high-fiving each other with the gloves or whateve: "You didn't come here to shake his hand boy, now feed him some fist!"

So I started to ask Sami how much he'd pay me if I wouldn't take a very loud liking to the swedish fighters (yelling go, sweden! is a sure way of getting into a fight here), howl at the Everlast-girl or start yelling "Liverhook! Liverhook!" with all I've got.

I'm now up a pair of Everlast women's shorts.

The only disappointment was the main event of the evening. It was between Jarkko "the nordic sledgehammer" latomäki and Furdjel de Windt of the netherlands. And let me just say, The Nordic Sledgehammer behaved more like The Nordic Anvil. They just cuddled each other for 3x5minutes.

Blah.

Interesting sunday, at the very least.

First we thought we'd improve our condition for Beach08, which is an ongoing project after beach 07 and beach 06 and so on totally failed because I'm lazy. So we went swimming to protect my bone-crampy foot. Sami complained a bit because his face is bruised up again because of all of the shenanigans he's been up to so he couldn't use goggles. I can, and I can still keep my body moving in the water and it was lots of fun for me. It's always a bit depressing thinking about how I used to swim 5-10km trainings every day and now I almost die after 1, but I guess it should kind of go this way when you give up competetive training. And I still managed to get my pulse up to 203bpm while swimming a few sprints, so this proves I still have the heart of a 17-year old girl!

In a jar, on my desk.

We had also invited dinner guests over but 2/3 of them failed to appear because the husband of a friend of mine (whom here the invited two thirds) had woken up in the night to what he thought was a heart-attack. So they spent dinner-time and a bit before and a bit after in a hospital. Luckily it wasn't a heart-attack, but scary anyway since he isn't even thirty and is generally in good health. Juhani however came and fun was had by all.

And so, we are yet again faced with a monday of work since I didn't win the lottery this saturday either. I was sure it would be my turn this time...

Last weekend we went to a wedding. People really put their best foot forward for weddings. They came in their best dresses and gowns. Me? Well, I came in my best panther-outfit.

Meow

I would've loved to show you pics of the wedding, but all of them include lots and lots of other people. Since Sami doesn't want his face on vox, and I don't have permission to post anyone else's face up here either, and because I don't see the point in editing everybody else away, you're just gonna have to take my word for it. By the way, that's not Sami who is placed next to me at the table. But trust me, he looked extremely handsome.

As you can see, there was skilled lighting, There was also wine and punch, and a bar. There was good food and a beautiful, very romantically dressed bride in her pink ruffled wedding-dress. Present was also a groom and their 1,5 month-old baby, who didn't cry at all when I held him. I think he was a bit hypnotized by all the lights. Obviously lamps are waaay cool when you've only experienced them for a few weeks. For the first time ever, I didn't panic when something tiny that might just poo at any second was placed in my lap. He is going to be a good man someday, because the first thing he did when placed on my arms, was grab my boob. Men...

I ate a lot(!), and danced even more. It was wonderful, because there were so many other couples on the floor that nobody noticed my total incapability to dance, and Sami didn't even comment on it once. I also danced with this other guy, who they call Bumblebee (like the transformer!), and he didn't either. Mainly because he seemed to be completely hammered at the time. I was lying, he wasn't called Bumblebee like the transformer, he is called that because he is short, so built that he looks out of proportion, like a bumblebee, and apparently has the patience of one when he is under the influence of alcohol. Personally, I thought he was sweet.

Other than that, we got to spend a little time together, Sami and me, since I wasn't working this weekend. It was very, very nice to just lay back and enjoy being around each other. For the last couple of days, we've been eating really well, and he has impressed me multiple times by washing the laundry, doing the dishes, wrapping christmas gifts and such. I know, I know, you're saying that they're just regular household chores. And I can tell you he does stuff otherwise too, it's just that for the last few days, for some reason, I've been really touched by how he is going out of his way to make me feel comfortable.

As for me? Personally, I've taken a turn for the better, and the jaw-pain is gone for the moment. I was ridiculously happy to get a refill on my painkillers, because that meant I was able to take them a few days in a row, which broke the back of the pain-circle (it starts hurting, I can't eat, I get stressed, It hurts more if I try to eat and if I don't eat I just take out the stress in my sleep by clenching my jaw, which leads to it hurting more etc...). So, I was able to eat solid food again, got me a bit of energy, slept better and eventually, after a few days the headache just left me alone and I noticed that everyone else doesn't suck that much anymore. It still gets tired, but you can't have it all, can you? Plus, there are people who are way worse off than me, so I really can't complain.

I passed my second german exam and am able to bench-press 40kg multiple times already! And I only have 6 days of work left before I get to celebrate christmas and have me both some ham and smoked turkey, mmm....

I thought I'd bog about christmas someday when I have the time, but I'd be really interested in how you guys celebrate christmas? When does Sinterklaas arrive? What do you americans eat at christmas and do you celebrate it on the 24th (like we do over here) at all or does it all concentrate on the 25th? Tell me, blog!

Hello Love.

It's been a month, and it'll be another one until we meet again. So far, things have been going from crappy to allright. I had a hard time adjusting, but looking back I think it was good you weren't here, because now I've had to discover my spread-out-new-life all by myself. I still don't like waking up 5 am on tuesdays to catch the train, but I manage. My new job is going really well, and I like everyone there. My other new job starts on wednesday, and that'll force me to make myself more accustomed to Helsinki, since I'll be running all over the place for one day. It's all good though, although I can't understand you have accurate maps over the fjords of Norway, but none of Helsinki. All in all this one month has gone by fast in many ways, and very, very slowly if you look at it from another point of view. I think I'll manage just fine until I can wake up to your scent again.

This weekend went by very fast. On thursday Tapsa forced me to the gym. For the first time in a year (or two). I was a bit reluctant ("I can't come." -Why? "Because I'm a girl". Didn't fly.) but I decided to go there and pump my ass off. Go there I did, the pumping... not so much. I was a bit out of place around all that hard iron, and being in a military base, being around all those navy-looking-types pumping shitloads of said iron. I felt embarassed trying to lift the bar and a few 5kg weights on the bench, but reminding myself that it's okay to b a girl, these guys don't expect you to do better, helped. I know all the confident women out there are yelling at me for feeling so self conscious in a gym full of military men, but trust me, all that trust in my inner badass kind of falls apart when I'm being gawked at like I'm the oddest thing to happen since they let those darned women start voting. But I pressed, sqeueezed, lifted and pushed all the same. I didn't really work out with Tapsa all that much since the weights he lifts would've broke my Barbie back. The next day I felt a lot better and stronger because my butt..err..gluteus maximus was so sore I could barely get out of bed. Let alone dress myself since my bi-/triceps didn't think stretching my arm out was the best idea ever. So I must've done awfully well for myself! I know Tapsa told me so earlier at the gym, but I think he's just trying to be nice in the way you'd be nice to a five-year-old presenting you with his first piece of arts and crafts. "Oh wow, you lifted the whoooole bar by yourself! And with those weights! And 5 times!", while juggling 3 cows.

Friday and saturday was business as usual, but after work I drove myself to Juhani. And honey, I found the way! I even found my way back! I rule! Plus, it was a lot of fun spending time with Juhani again. Sad we couldn't go party, but still: good times.

Sunday Laura came here, and we had the best day. I enjoy people coming over her, but it was especially nice to see Laura since she'd been to Beijing as an exchange student for a year. We continued Beach 08 by going swimming. We didn't swim all that much because I still have a little cold hanging over me, but it was a lot better than nothing. Apart from that the day was a lot about updating info :)

Finally, I got a little feedback about my new vox-photo. The one I sent you too. Apparently I am the spitting image of my mother. This, of course, can only mean one thing: Mom's a hottie.
